pH Issue

Yesterday I tried the pH down solution. This morning I did a pH test on my aquarium water and it still reads the same, pH 7.6. I added in another round of pH down solution, let see whether the reading changes tomorrow.

Tank Decoration

I checked the water pH at feeder fish tank where I put in the wood yesterday, and it shows the same result as my Kelesa home. Thus it means that the wood not really helps bringing the pH down. So I decided to put in into Kelesa's home as tank decoration.

After putting in the wood I realised that it actually floats! So I put a stone which I bought earlier as anchor weight. It works and I also attached the precious artificial plants on the wood.

Here's the wood in the tank:

Updates

Another water change and done tank cleaning too this afternoon.

Here's the favourite add on to the tank after each water change, the black water, which calms Kelesa down during each water change.

Also, I bought another lamp (previous one too short and can only brighten one side of the tank) and a piece of wood which I'm now soaking it inside the feeder fish tank. Tomorrow will do a pH test on feeder fish tank and see if it really helps bring down the pH. If so, will put it into the tank so that Kelesa can have better appetite and also will grow better.

Will post the latest photos soon.

New pH Test Kit

Well, just got another pH test kit and after testing the tank water, it shows 7.6, which means my tank pH really too high.

New Tank Mates

My brother-in-law gave me four 'lampan' to me today as his tank is packed already. As these fishes are not as fierce as previous one, thus I just released them straight into the house of Kelesa.

Somehow Kelesa got frighten! Maybe to many 'big' fishes which make Kelesa uncomfortable.

Well will see what happen tomorrow and if required, will take out these new tank mates to lessen Kelesa's stress. Let see whether Kelesa eats or not tomorrow.

The pH rises to 7.85 today. I tried put back all coral chips and somehow pH drops back to 7.6. Strange but I think I'll just leave it like that for the moment and after moving to the new stand will try with other test kits.

Bigger Home at Last!

Yesterday evening all the temporary fishes have been taken out by my brother-in-law as he had repaired his tank.

I just removed the glass divider to give the full 6 feet space back to my Kelesa. Looks like Kelesa is not used to it so again hiding at one corner or swim at previous routes only, not exploring the full tank space. Still taking lots of worms daily so I guess my Kelesa still living fine.

pH level however rises to 7.65, wondering why this happened as I already taken out all coral chips.

pH Monitor & Water Change

Just received pH monitor yesterday which I ordered from eBay before Chinese New Year. All the way from Hong Kong.

Managed to install and test it. With information from friend in LAKU, the tap water in Miri is pH 8. My Aquarium reading is pH 8.6.

As Kelesa need water pH around 6.5 - 7.0, thus I get some online consultation, and removing coral chip and water change seems to be the best trial to bring down the pH.

After 20% water change, the pH comes to 7.36. I will try to do another water change in 2 - 3 days time and see if can further bring down the pH reading further.

Anyway, am trying to find pH buffer for calibration use later.

Yum! Yummy!

Bought some small live prawn to let my Kelesa taste and just after I released in the prawn into the tank, my Kelesa swallowed at least 3 of them and then chasing and ate another few more. This is the first time I saw it ate something and it's really exciting! Haha!

Tank Cleaning & Water Changing

Cleaning my tank again today and did 20% water changing like before. This time I introduce in salt too.

My Kelesa looks better today, as it dare to swim around and no more hiding nor afraid of me. I guess the small feeder fishes really help boosting up it's courage. However, I'm not sure whether it got ate some of these feeder fishes already or not. I'm not really sure if my Kelesa took anything since I introduce it into the tank. I use worms before but I think it took none. That's why I try feeder fishes now.

New Stand

Ok, today I confirmed and paid for the new aquarium stand. It's constructed with wood, top frames 2x4 wood and pillars 2x3 wood and bottom frame also 2x3 wood. RM250 completed with 3 coated of paints. I guess it's really reasonable and they refuse to give anymore discount. The stand will be ready in a week time according to the sales lady. Well, by then I will have a lot more to do - moving Kelesa, empty waters, moving tanks, setup the filter system piping and tank cycling etc...

Am trying to find a small lamp (less than 2.5 ft long) but very bright. However, couldn't find any.

Just some updates

Yesterday I bought a standard pump just to supply air on my Kelesa side. It really likes it I guess as I can see it swimming close to the pump and kind of playing with the bubble waves.

This morning I touch up yesterday paint work. Then I bought one live plant and also three artificial plants for my Kelesa.

Also I added in some small fishes (hope my Kelesa can eat some and chase some to gain courage according to some online information).

Here's the latest photo:

Also asked one nearby LFS to quote for a wooden stand and the price is quite reasonable - RM250. Will confirm tomorrow with them again and if possible, bargain on the price... I got quotation on a stainless steel stand, RM800 which I'm sure no one in the family will agreed on it! :p

Painting Completed

Just done my initial painting, I guess so far so good, as it's late night already, can't really tell where need some touch up. Will touch up them tomorrow morning then.

Used 3 cans of spray paints, a total of RM15. Checked on 18inch black wallpaper this afternoon and it cost me RM3.80 per feet, which is RM3.80 x 6 ft, around RM22.80! Wow, seems like it's still cheaper and easier to use spray paint then! Furthermore, I'm sure the 2 ft wallpaper sure cost more than that!

Attacked!

This morning when I woke up, I went to check on my Kelesa. What the @#$%^&?! It jumps to the next partition and some bloody parrot is sucking it! Quickly I tried my best to separate them with Kelesa and later noticed that there are two scales fallen. Sigh...

Now my Kelesa hide on bottom whenever someone walked by, hope can overcome these soon by itself.

I'm going to paint the background black soon with some spray paints. Will post the finishing work soon.

Welcome Home!

Just bought my Kelesa today!

After partition my tank, I releasing it into the tank and it's exploring and relaxing in the tank! Maybe because I added in black water extract, thus it feel calm and relax.
